There are two main types of rental properties in Japan.
The first type is the urban rental property which is located in the busy strees or entertainment districts of urban cities.
The other type is the suburban retail properties which is located in the outlaying suburban areas of the major cities.

2.What are some specific examples about these two types?

Urban retail properties include department stores,station buildings and high street retail properties.
A typical characteristic of urban retail properties in Japan is tha people usually go to there area  by train or on foot,not by car.

The most popular suburban retail property is a large shopping center, or mall.

 3.What is the most important point to consider when investing in a retail property in Japan?

The most important point for urban retail properties is the location,visibility and the access from the nearest station to the property.

For suburban retail the most important point is the catchment area,or the number of shopperes in the vicinity of the store or mall.

Key points is the quality of the anchor tenant to attract  shoppers to the properties.And operating capabilities and credit of the retail operater who runs the property is also very important.
